“Plastic Drop” exhibition by Eric Maillet.

A tribute to the French artist with the series of Index shots selected for the occasion and with Le Grand Livre, the photographic book among the greatest ever made, previewed Eric Maillet (1957- 2021), one of the most appreciated international still life photographers, was enough of the ordinaryness of a plastic bottle fund, the transparency of water and his lens to create a powerful visual imagination where you can get lost. Nature has always been at the centre of Maillet’s personal research and water, in its versatility, its main source of inspiration.

The artist has collected around the world and stored an infinite amount of plastic bottles. A natural gesture to preserve the environment and protect it. Bottle funds that are transformed with imagination into abstract shapes, celestial bodies, precious gems, a kaleidoscope that rotates from shades of red, orange, green, blue, purplish to the crystalline effect. Colour thus turns out to be an essential element of this collection where the action of light, blending with plastic and water, returns a new appearance to the object. And it is precisely the water, an inspiring muse of Eric Maillet and a symbol of life, the rouge file for this exhibition project that combines the element of nature with that of the everyday object in a symphonic agreement between form and colour.

On the occasion of the exhibition, the monumental artist’s photo book made in limited edition, Le Grand Livre, will be exhibited for the first time, which contains a good part of Eric Maillet’s photographic production.
